Typical Food of Kuantan

Kuantan experience is one of the amazing experiences as compared to any other 
states in Malaysia. Starting from its beaches, parks, waterfalls, historical sites etc

snacks with a mixture of different ingredients. 
Another recipe which has been consumed by Malaysians for centuries is salted fish. 
The preparation for salted fish takes time as it is marinated with salt & dried out in 
sun for days. Astonishingly, the fish doesn’t rot as the heat generated from the sun 
bakes it inside & out keeping it fit for eating purposes. Moreover, the salt

Grilled Fish also known as Ikan Bakar in Malay is one of the prominent dishes in 
Malaysia which is prepared in its own unique way using charcoal. Ikan Bakar refers 
to burned fish. The sea fish is typically used for preparing grilled fish unlike fresh 
water fishes. The Malaysians add kecap manis or sweet soy sauce along with other 
spices to marinate the fish which is later wrapped inside a banana leaf & covered 
inside charcoals. The marinated grilled fish is garnished with lemon juice along 
with shrimp paste. 
One of the most famous street dishes throughout Malaysia is Satay. The Satay is 
cooked with meat & peanut butter along with Roti made of baked dough & spicy 
curry. It is prepared very slowly in order to make sure that the meat is cooked 
thoroughly. The spices used in marinating of the meat enhance its taste further. 
Another dish which is preferred among all regions of Kuantan is tandoori chicken & 
naan. The tandoori chicken is prepared in a special way which involves typical 
Indian masala or spices such as turmeric, cumin powder, yogurt, coriander powder 
etc. The chicken is marinated for more than 4 hours which is eventually placed in 
the tandoor or huge oven like apparatus. While, the naan is often referred as the 
flatbread prepared in the oven has transformed from time to time. A typical naan 
is prepared with yeast, salt, flour, yogurt etc. The taste of naan enhances if it 
baked at a perfect temperature. 
The Pesar is one of the prominent markets in the town of Kuantan. The market is 
known its delicacies along with ingredients required to complete the dish. Kuala 
Lipis noodles known for its exotic taste in soup is available at the corner of Pesar. 
Tanjung Lampur is one of the fine restaurants in Kuantan which serves delicious 
grilled fish to its customers. Kuantan is a food paradise for many tourists coming
